Daisy would like to thank Oakwood for the get well card she received in the post today!! :D

She had blood tests done last week, & all that showed up was a raised white cell count (which indicates an infection or inflammation of some kind) & slight anaemia.
Some blood tests were sent away for more detailed analysis, & they came back with the same conclusion .... a chronic inflammation or infection.

On tuesday she went in for x-rays to see if they could see anything untoward, & unfortunately, nothing showed up. Annie said she'd x-rayed every part of her to see if they could find anything (although the initial suspicion is that it's something around her back that's the problem), & they've now been sent away to some orthopeadic vet specialist types, in the hopes they notice something that Phil & Annie couldn't see.

If that shows nothing up, then she's probably going to have to go for an MRI scan, which means a day out to Dewsbury!!

Meanwhile, she's taking anti-inflammatory tablets & anti-biotics twice a day - without the anti-inflammatories, her temperature goes sky-high ... a dog's temp should be around 101, but Daisy's is 105 without the tablets.

She's not like the manic Daisy at the moment - she has bursts of playing & running around, but they don't last long, & she spends most of her time 'relaxing' which isn't normal for a 9 month old sprocker!! This morning, until the effects of her tablets kicked in, she couldn't even manage to jump up onto the chair, & I had to lift her up onto it in the end.

Hopefully, they'll find out what's wrong with her soon ...... & thank dog for pet insurance!!!!

Annie rang me today from V4P ... the vets at Calder Vets in Dewsbury have looked at the x-rays & find them 'very interesting', whatever that means!
They think she may have a lesion on 2 of her vertebrae & there's also a query as to whether there's something of 'interest' in her abdomen.
She's to go on another anti-biotic (aswell as the one she's already on, & the anti-inflammatories), & I've to take her to Calder Vets Hospital on monday 27 July, to see the medical-type vet. They will keep her there to do more tests/examinations etc, & on the wednesday, she'll have an MRI scan (that's the day the mobile scanner goes to them), then hopefully I can pick her up wednesday evening.

I'll feel really mean leaving her there all on her own, with people she doesn't know!!!! :(

Oh, poor little girl. I hope they can sort her out very quickly, bless her. I know just how you feel about leaving her (we had to leave Hunnie for 3 days in Reading) but you will know that the staff there are doing their job because they love it, :D :) and spoil the in-patient animals something rotten. Don't feel too bad - Hunnie was non the worse for her experience - I was tho!!!!! Will be thinking positive thoughts for her.

Good luck to you and Daisydoo for tomorrow and this week. Hope they can find out and treat whatever the problem is quickly. Take care, and try not to worry too much. Will be thinking of you both.
Alfie, Ellie and Hunnie send their best wishes to their canine friend too.

Daisydoo spent 2 nights at Calder Vets Hospital in Dewsbury a couple of weeks ago.
They gave her a sedative & a muscle relaxant so they could give her a thorough examination, & she also had an scan done.
Basically, what they found (& I can't remember what the heck he called it  ) was probably the cause of her problems, & continuing on the 2 types of anti-biotic & the anti-inflammatory should resolve it. He thought it likely she's eaten something at sometime that has initially caused the irritation/damage, which in turn lead to infection & inflammation.

The day after she returned from the hospital, she was back to her manic self ..... charging round the house, annoying Molly, trashing everything she can get hold of & humping Roly ()!!!
We are now wondering if it's possible she's had something else going on, eg trapped nerve, or prolapsed disc, which they've accidentally manipulated back in place when they've examined her, while totally relaxed. It seems strange she went from one extreme to the other overnight.
She's now finished all her tablets, & she seems fine .... still destroying the garden & de-stuffing cushions & the other dogs' bed, & annoying Molly, & still humping Roly ......... back to normal!!!

Just a quick addition ..... when I was at V4P getting Molly's free health check thingy done, I asked Maria what it was that they'd found on Daisy's scan .... apparently it was lymph nodes, between her liver & stomach, which why he assumed she'd eaten something to cause the inflammation .... the problem is, she eats everything she can get hold of, so it's going to remain a mystery what the cause was!!!
