Hi all. Im new to this forum but i have met Gill before when she gave me advice on a dog i had rescued and was chewing my house to pieces!!! I have recently got a new puppy called Lunar ( a rottie ) and i am having a hard time teaching her not to bite. I am aware that she will learn in time that it is naughty but im worried if she bites my 3 year old niece. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joanne,

Nice to see you on the forum, I have got your email enquiry about puppy classes, Nicky is going to send you some info tomorrow, but when I'm back in on Thurs I will email you my information sheet on play-biting.

For now until I can get that over to you try to direct her onto a toy rather than your hands, preferably before she starts to bite rather than after so you are not rewarding the biting.

How did things go with your other dog, was he called Bear, if I remember right?

Gill

Hi Gill, thanks for your reply. Yes it was Bear and shes doing great now, thanks. Im so glad I never gave up on her. Lunar has just had her 1st innoculation and is due her 2nd on April 30th so I am planning to start her in training classes. I will be coming to Oakwood of course and am very excited to start training her as I have heard that rotties are very inteligent! Hope to see you soon. :D
