scooby keeps licking maggie

Postby lynn74uk on Wed Oct 28, 2009 2:27 pm

Hi has anyone any advice for us please. My one year old black male lab keeps lickin my 2 yr old girl lab. He first started licking her eye which started to look a bit sore we stopped that but he's gone onto licking the side of her neck which now looks sore, maggie just sits and lets him. If he's not doing that he's on top of her trying to hump her which i understand that bit he is male after all lol. I really need to get him to stop licking her i have a water spray which we use but to be honest we can just pick it up an he stops. When we go out and leave them i have to put a coat on maggie so scooby can't lick her in that place. Hope someone can give some advice before he makes her really sore.

Hi, not sure on the licking thing but have they been spayed and castrated? This may stop the humping thing lol.

Not sure about the licking either, but the humping thing could be more about dominance than a sexual thing .... my youngest dog who's just over a year old, & female, does it to Roly my oldest (he's 4) male dog - all my dogs have been neutered.

I've heard of the licking problem before, but it's usually been on themselves not other dogs, & it's often related to stress, but not sure why he's licking her .... sorry can't be of more help.
