My first Growl Class
I have a 2yr old Doberman called Roxy who i have owned for several months now and we came along to oakwood for our first growl class on sunday as roxy has a few problems of barking at people and dogs on and off lead.
I am pleased to report that after just one session there is a noticable change in both her and mine and my partners behaviour. firstly we took a trip to the beach for a couple of hours that evening when it was nice and quiet and did some recall training so she now stays much closer on the and comes back when asked. we also worked on correcting other little problems we discussed with nicky such as jumping and her reaction to my "dog walking hoddie" and having changed her collar for a harness she now walks beautifully and those are coming on well.
We managed a 2 hour off lead walk along the beach yesterday morning passing a man collecting fossils who was approx 50yds away and a couple with a dog 100 yds away. This may not sound impressive for some of you but for Roxy and i it was a huge achievement - firstly for her not to run away to them barking like mad and secondly for me having the confidence to leave the lead off! im pleased to report all passings took place with no fuss (except the ends of my fingers being a little nibbled)
im so pleased i just wanted to let you all know about it! and to thank Nicky for her guidance!
very much looking foward to our next class on sunday!
